The Magic Touch of Golden Hands - Handicrafts of Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is a state where the skills of art and craft is worshiped as gods and passed on from one generation to another. It is the land of art and artisans.
The state has patronized art forms since the days of Moguls. Nawabs of Awadh and other nobles later carried the tradition forward. This is the primary reason why from Varanasi to Agra, every small or big town is famous for some or other craft in Uttar Pradesh.
Indonesian Delegates Explores Business Opportunities in Uttar Pradesh
A meeting with the delegates of Embassy of Republic of Indonesia was held in Lucknow on 9th September, 2011, which was attended by the industrialists and state government officials. The delegates indicated that their area of investment in the state of Uttar Pradesh is mainly food processing, establishment of chain of storages for the product and investment in infrastructure projects. Major issues related to import, export, investment opportunities etc. were discussed. Promotion of trade, commerce and industry between two countries with particular reference to Uttar Pradesh were some of the topics deliberated. The meeting was organized by the Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Payment of Old Electricity Dues Exempted For Units Under BIFR
As a part of its pro-active initiatives to facilitate entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh, the State Government has recently took a decision to exempt payment of old dues while releasing new connection, restoration of old connection or enhancement of power load to the units covered under BIFR.

Khurja- The Bustling Centre of Earthenware Activities
Khurja, a small town of Uttar Pradesh is situated in Distt. Bulandshahrabout 100 km away from Delhi. It has direct rail link from Delhi and Howrah.
Blue pottery is a popular craft of the state since Mughal period. Khurja is important center of this craft. Excellent specimens of earthenware and terracotta are produced in addition to toys by using new production techniques and design.
Thus, Khurja has formed a niche for its products viz. Pottery, Milk and Pure Ghee not only in the state of Uttar Pradesh but also in the whole country.  
Workshop on International Marketing in Exports
PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Germany in collaboration with IILM Institute for Higher Education had organized a Workshop on “International Marketing in Exports” on 25th August 2011 in Lucknow. The workshop was attended by the existing and prospective exporters as well as state government officials. The process of export marketing, factors for success and strategic choices available for exporters from India were some of the major highlights. The topics covered in the workshop led to a better understanding of new global business environment.
Renewable Energy- Fueling the Future
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Uttar Pradesh New Energy Development Authority (UPNEDA) jointly organised a conference on renewable energy in Lucknow on 9th September, 2011. The conference titled "Renewable Energy- Fueling the Future" focused on specific areas related to renewable energy sector. Considering the fact that renewable energy has the capacity to fulfill the huge gap between the demand and supply of power, the state government showed its intention to invite more investments in these areas. The event deliberated topics such as solar thermal, energy efficiency, biomass power as well as policy issues and stressed the need toexplore alternative energy solutions.
