Brief Introduction

U.P. Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL) has come into existence with the main objective of generation, transmission and distribution in the state.

The distribution of power in the state is being managed by the following Power Distribution Corporations:-

These corporations are involved in activities viz. providing quality power supply to consumers, timely sanction of power loads, maintenance of network, solving problems of consumers satisfactorily etc. The main objective of these corporations is to electrify new areas and to provide power supply to the entire region of its jurisdiction.

Organizational Structure and Working

UPPCL is headed by its Chairman-cum-Managing Director, who is the chairman of all of its subsidiary corporations. It has a Jt. Managing Director.

UPPLC has Directors of Finance, Commerce, Distribution, HRD & Admin. All the corporations are headed by their Managing Directors and have different directors, under which different divisions are assigned to Chief Engineers

Details of Approvals/NOCs/Clearances issued (under Nivesh Mitra)

 

Approvals are granted by UPPCL under Nivesh Mitra for entrepreneurs

·         Sanctioning of permanent power connection/power load to new units

Ø  For obtaining permanent power connection/power load, units shall have to submit application in prescribed format alongwith requisite fee, required documents duly certified (in accordance with latest amendments u/s 4.4 of Electricity Supply Code-2005). 

Ø  All units requiring power loads upto 100 HP (75 KW) shall be sanctioned power connection under the category of LMV-6 (small & medium)

Ø  Units requiring more than 100 HP (75 KW) shall be sanctioned power connection under the category of HV-2 (large & heavy)

 

·         Sanctioning of temporary power connection/power load to new units

 

Ø   For obtaining temporary power connection/power load, units shall have to apply atleast 15 days before in prescribed format alongwith required documents (in accordance with latest amendments u/s 4.10 of Electricity Supply Code-2005)

Ø  Temporary power connection shall be sanctioned only for 2 years

Ø  For such connections, billing shall be under the category of LMV-9 

Entrepreneurs who shall apply for Approvals/NOCs/Clearances (under Nivesh Mitra)

 

 Ø  Entrepreneurs need to obtain NOC from the department to the effect that there is no outstanding electricity dues for the premises where connection is proposed to be obtained

 Ø  Therefore, new connections are sanctioned only for those units which provide non-outstanding dues certificate

Details of Departmental Process of issuing Approvals/NOCs/Clearances issued (under Nivesh Mitra)

 

Department will act in accordance with the following main provisions as laid down under Electricity Supply Code-2005 (latest amendment):

 

·         For New Connections (Permanent)

Ø  Licensee's Obligation to Supply u/s 4.1

Ø  Licensee's Obligation to Extend the Distribution System u/s 4.2

Ø  New Connections- General u/s 4.3

Ø  Processing of Application for Supply u/s 4.4

Ø  Inspection by Licensee u/s 4.5

Ø  Estimate u/s 4.6

Ø  Release of Connection where extension of distribution mains or commissioning of sub-station/increasing capacity is not required u/s 4.7

Ø  Release of Connection where extension of distribution mains or commissioning of new Sub-Station/Enhancement of capacity of sub-station is required u/s 4.8

·          For New Connections (Temporary)

Ø  Procedure u/s 4.10 shall be followed

Ø  Work completion certificate and test result ( As per Annexure 4.4 of Electricity Supply Code-2005)

Ø  Application form for requisition of temporary supply of energy ( As per Annexure 4.5 of Electricity Supply Code-2005)

Ø  Procedure for determination of connected load ( As per Annexure 4.6 of Electricity Supply Code-2005)

Ø  Agreement for supply of electrical energy ( As per Annexure 4.12 of Electricity Supply Code-2005)

Ø  Application for change of category ( As per Annexure 4.13 of Electricity Supply Code-2005)
