Brief Introduction

Uttar Pradesh Forest Department was constituted with the aim to preserve the forestry in the state and to control deforestation activities. The department has laid special emphasis on measures to meet the long term requirements of the state in terms of its afforestation and to ensure more economic and efficient utilization of the valuable forest products

Based on various court orders and government decisions, licenses are not presently being given by the department to other industrial units such as saw mills, veneer/plywood units, katha units, match stick/pencil/other industry based on soft wood (user of round timber). SAW MILL

No State Government or Union Territory shall permit unlicensed saw mills, veneer, plywood industry to operate and they are directed to close all such unlicensed unit forth. No State Government pr Union Territory will permit the opening of any saw mills, veneer, plywood industry without prior permission of the Central Empowered Committee.**

"The seniority list if plywood/veneer units established after 4-3-97 (Category IV units) should be finalized by the State Level committee for Uttar Pradesh Wood Based industries in consultation with the C.E.C."
